Have you ever wished that you had access to an endgame oracle which could give

you a precise evaluation of an endgame position and the best continuation for

both sides? Well, the 7-man Chess Lomonosov Tables do exactly that. You will

immediately know if a position is drawn or won and the precise number of

moves until the opponent is checkmated. The exact moves to deliver checkmate

can also be shown and at each step you can see which moves win, draw and lose.

In other word, the Chess Lomonosov tables give you the final word on any

position with seven or fewer pieces on the board!

The generation of the 7-man Lomonosov endgame tables is a major

achievement in the history of chess endgames. The tables were calculated on

a Lomonosov supercomputer by the Computer Science department of MSU.

The total size of the Lomonosov tables is more than 100 TB (100 000 GB),

far, far more than any normal user can store on his computer. Therefore the

7-man Chess Lomonosov Tables app was developed. It allows any user with an

Android device to take advantage of this huge database in order to analyze

positions with up to seven pieces on the board (including the kings).

Lomonosov tables ignore the fifty-move rule.

7-man Chess Lomonosov Tables is the only existing app allowing access to

7-man tables using mobile devices.

The current features of the app are described below. Additional features

will be added based on user feedback. Among the planned features is the

animation of moves and practicing against the endgame database,

which is an excellent way to improve your endgame.

POSITION SETUP.

Position Setup displays a full size chess board for setting up a position.

A palette with the pieces and operations is displayed above the board.

Below the board you can see:

- Side-to-move switch,

- Play button for playing through the winning line,

- Tree button for listing the best moves in the position,

- -> button for making the best move on the board.

You can

1) Setup a position on the board. Drag pieces from one square to another

or place a piece on the board from the palette. The endgame server is

automatically queried for all valid positions. The results will appear

within a few seconds.

2) Remove a piece from the board. Click the black X button, and then the

square with the piece which you want to remove. Switch off deletion mode

by clicking icon below X.

3) Remove all pieces from the board by clicking the broom icon to the right of X

4) Move all pieces down, up, right or left.

5) Reflect the position left|right and up|down.

5) Undo or redo operations, e.g. in case of errors.

Position evaluations are displayed at the top of the screen. The best

moves are highlighted with arrows.

TREE view.

In Tree view you can see a list of moves in the position sorted by

their strength. In addition to the best moves, the one move for every possible

result of the game is displayed. You can click a move in the list (it

will be highlighted on the board) and then make the move by clicking the

-> button.

PLAY view.

The Play button fetches the optimal line from the server, showing how both

sides should play from the position. Use the arrows under board to navigate

the line. Click the Position button to go to Position view with the current

position on the board. Click Return in the upper status line to return to

Position view with the original position.

MENU.

Using the Navigation Drawer on the left side of the screen, you can quickly

switch between different views and perform additional actions.

You can access the server as a guest but our advice is to register.

Registered users will have access to an extended set of features.

The tables for 3 pieces are installed with the app. The tables for

4-7 pieces are kept on a powerful server at ChessOK. It is also possible to download

4-5 piece positions and use them locally without Internet access.
