If you send a long text message, the iPhone splits it to multiple SMS's, which will be individually billed by your operator.
TXT saver counts the number of characters and the number of SMS's while you edit a text message. It also displays the number of remaining characters in the current SMS.
Unlike other apps, TXT saver understands the difference between 160 and 70 character long SMS's. If you use any of the hundreds of letters or symbols (á, ó, \, —, …, •, etc.) that are not supported in 160 charter mode, TXT saver warns you that the iPhone will be able to fit only 70 characters in each SMS.
TXT saver can convert these Unicode characters to standard 7-bit characters, and save on your SMS bill! If you sent the three paragraphs above in a text message, the iPhone would split it to ten 70-character SMS's. TXT saver could compress it down to four 160-character SMS's by replacing the unsupported characters (á, ó, \, —, …, •) with similar supported ones (à, ò, |, -, ..., *).
In iPhone OS 3.x apps can not send text messages. When you are done editing your message, TXT Saver will exit and open the Messages app to send your text message. We will be releasing a free update this summer that will allow OS 4.0 phones to send messages directly form this app.
