The 2006 Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony in Melbourne was the catalyst for beginning the SHIAMAK movement in Australia. Shiamak’s personal involvement with the Commonwealth Games, allowed for the Indian, Sri Lankan and Fijian Communities to see that dance is his passion.
He was able to bring together 500 Australian, Indian, Sri Lankan and Fijian locals with members of his Indian Dance team to bring the Bollywood flare to Australia. Since then, the SHIAMAK Dance Team in Australia has set up several centres across Victoria with over 300 students.
The SHIAMAK Dance Team in Australia is committed to promoting SHIAMAK’s philosophy of ‘Have Feet. Will Dance.’ with their excellent performances.
