A spell is cast by manipulating a 3x3 grid, sort of like a Tic Tac Toe board except with light instead of X's and O's, until the grid of lights matches a configuration that differs for each spell. Each level has a time limit, and the game gets more difficult until the final spell, the spell of Life, gives you a very short time for completion.
