Stat-X is an application based on the library ALGLIB - see http://www.alglib.net for more information - and is licensed under GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE - see the tab GNU license in action bar for more details.
It provides a user interface that allows you to get the results for most of the mathematical and statistical procedures contained in the library (one of the best existing open source numerical analysis library).
We choose to make the application easily usable also for non experts, sometimes at the expense of accuracy or completeness (we apologize in advance with ALGLIB team).
Stat-X offer many feature:
- You can enter the input data either manually or from a text file on the mobile -device.
- You have - where possible - sample values that will allow you to try out the procedure.
- The parameters must be entered manually and will be controlled by the application to match the required type and range.
- In some tasks (such regression or interpolation), you can use the model obtained from the original data to another value or another set of data (of course compatible with the original data).
- Stat-X also offers many graphic features - both 3D and 2D - easily accessible from the specific task you are using. You can also plot any function [F (x) or F (x, y)] with - optionally - surface or contour.
- For each procedure you have a contextual help with summary information about the parameters to be included and the results you can get. For more complete information about tasks, you have a link to ALGILB website.
VERY IMPORTANT: Performance and limitation:
ALGLIB is a powerfull library but, of course, it depend on the resources available on the device in use.
In particular:
1 - We recommend that you use the application with a minimum of 7 inch tablet - though you can also use it on a smartphone with a 4 inch screen.
2 - The Android OS version must be at least 3.2.
3 - It is preferable to have at least 1 GB of RAM. With less memory the application will be significantly slower.
4 - The application is designed for a small-to-medium volume of data (hundreds or thousands of records, depends on the task). If you have a large volume of data you have to use a desktop version of the application (we are working on this).
