Michael Peter is a singer/songwriter that loves telling a musical story and entertaining a crowd. His songs are an acoustic mix of folk, roots, soul, pop and rock that he has toured extensively all over Australia building a reputation as a captivating live act.
Each of his songs has it's own unique story, heartfelt vocal and a soulful melody accompanied with open and intriguing lyrics. Rip It Up describes him as “a truly original sound to drive to, smile to and sing along in front of the mirror to. Michael’s music is the kind that truly connects with you” (April 2008). With the support of Triple J's Roots n All program, community radio, and Fogsongs publishing Michael has been enjoying the hard earned recognition as “An earnest, raw, promising new artist” (The Sunday Telegraph 01/06/2008).
Michael released his first independent solo EP “The 25 paper planes EP” in 2007. The song "Twenty Five" received Triple J air play on it's Roots n All programme as well as a number 1 spot on the mp3.com.au charts.
His second EP “Patched Up Heart” was released in 2008 with the song "Last I Heard" gaining multiple plays on Triple J’s Roots n All program and presenter Sarah Howells posting on the Triple J website that Patched Up Heart was in her top 3 CD's that she was listening to at the time. Nova in Sydney also picked up Last I Heard, as did ABC radio and many community radio stations around the country.
2008 saw Michael sign a publishing deal with Fogsongs Publishing and gain MGM distribution, with their support and the groundwork laid down by the first 2 EPs, Michael released his debut album in 2009 called “Something Along Those Lines”. From it the single “My Favourite” about Michael's wife picked up airplay on Triple J, ABC and community radio and was chosen to be in the Australian film Surviving Georgia. The Album received some amazing reviews including “An earnest, raw and promising new artist…there is a sincerity and honesty in Peter’s lyrics that shouldn’t be ignored”-The Sunday Telegraph (Syd) and “This is an amazing album that showcases one of Australia’s finest musical talents”-Mediasearch (On Line) as well as brilliant reviews in Rip It Up (Adelaide), Trad N Now (VIC) & The Sydney Morning Herald (Syd). Throughout 2009 Michael toured every State, Capital City and many regional area’s building up a captivated live audience and large fan base around Australia. His television debut came soon after with an appearance on Songwriters Across Australia where he performed live acoustic versions of "Heads Up" & "May".
In 2010 Michael became a father and created a very special EP called "Welcome E.P" as a present to his daughter, all five songs were written with her in mind. Its limited distribution was kept very much in the family and it is only available to buy on itunes.
Michael is currently recording his 2nd album, the first single off it "Skin on Skin" is due for release in July 2011. Accompanying its release will be Michaels first film clip.
