Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeleev (8 February 1834 -2 February 1907) was a Russian chemist and inventor. He created the first version of the periodic table of elements, and used it to predict the properties of elements yet to be discovered. Many of his predictions hold true and the scientists find it very useful to describe the characteristics of chemical elements.Mendeleev's periodic table is de-facto standard to know chemical elements and their characteristics.
