"Vasilisa the Beautiful" is a Russian folk tale collected by Alexander Afanasyev in a collection of Russian Folk Tales. Vasilisa, is an innocent, young girl who's journey leads her to discovering her own strength and independence. In this story full with magic, Vasilisa jourey goes from the comforts of her home to the dark, scary forest where she has to serve an old witch in order to save herself. She does this with the help of a wooden doll given to her by her late mother. The illustrations are by the Macedonian-born artist Biljana Kroll and the story is translated in both English and Macedonian. The beautiful piano music was played by the Bulgarian-born master pianist Lilia Stoytcheva. This interactive book has text in both English and Macedonian.
