With Tinkido’s Grouping game we wish to give parents and their children a fun tool for learning and communicating. In Grouping Game we are introducing the concept of amounts, which is a prerequisite for understanding adding and subtraction. Connection between amounts and mathematical operations means that putting objects in the same group is adding, and taking them away is subtracting. Fish with different shapes and colours will swim to the middle of screen and will have to be grouped with the fish that are on the sides of the screen. After grouping four fish they will leave the screen and new ones will appear. You can also hook up the fish and drag them around on the screen, and they will again take their places after being released. The game is intended to be intuitive, ideally the parent will survey the child and will talk about the things that are happening, giving first pointers on how to play the Grouping Game. Afterward that, the child should be invited to play by herself or himself. Recommended playing time is 15-30 minutes and is optimized for children aged 3 to 5 years.

Below is a list of concepts which are incredibly basic for grown-ups, but might be not fully understood by young children. Take a Tinkido game and use the things on the screen to describe the following concepts to your child. Ask your child to try using the new words as well, and don’t forget to enjoy the process :)
