Be the ‘go-to-guy’ at your tennis club with rules at your fingertip. Help train players and officials or just try to understand decisions at matches. TennisRules provides you with fast access to the latest International Tennis Federation Rule book with optimised text readability. The Rule book is downloaded automatically using 3G or WiFi networks. Quickly find your point of interest just by scrolling the topic roller with your finger. Two screens are used. The first is Rule Selection that displays a topic roller. Scroll this roller with your finger until your rule of interest appears under the selection bar. Then touch the ‘ViewRule’ button. The screen flips to Rule View displaying text of the selected rule. Normal iPhone scroll and zoom gestures are available on this screen. If rules occupy several pages a ‘NextPage’ button will appear providing access, unsurprisingly, to the next page. Sound can be disabled at any time by touching ‘Mute’, and then ‘Muted’ to re-enable. Return to Rule Selection by touching ‘SelectView’.Immediately after TennisRules has been installed, the app will attempt to load the latest Rule book using 3G or Wifi networks. If no network is available, or if the iPhone is in Airplane mode, the download will not begin and an alert is shown prompting the user to quit the app and try again when 3G or Wifi can be reached or after Airplane mode has been disabled in iPhones Settings. Download of the ITF PDF file takes around 2 secs using a 10Mbit/s Wifi connection, 5 secs on 3G, and 2 mins using 2G. Once downloaded the Rule book is saved on the iPhone for fast access the next time the app is used.
