Tarkenball is a paddle ball game where the paddle is controlled through phone movement. You control the paddle by moving your phone side-to-side and up-and-down to hit a tennis ball and keep it bouncing. Visuals are 3-D.
Once upon a time during the booming 90s at a hi-tech company in Boston, a Yankee swap during the holiday season was filled with gag gifts. The weirdest gift was a plastic toilet bowl plunger, given by a software engineer we'll call Matt (because that was his name). The plunger sat in the office of its unfortunate recipient for a few days before another engineer found a tennis ball, and discovered the fun of trying to keep the ball in the air by hitting it with the plunger. The past-time grew in popularity, with skill levels ranging from Sue - who could never manage to get a volley count out of the single digits, to the game's namesake - who, according to legend, volleyed the tennis ball for over three-thousand consecutive hits!
The game has two levels. In standard play, the player moves their device side-to-side to control the plunger and keep the tennis ball bouncing off of it. In hard play, the player moves their device side-to-side as well as up-and-down to strike the ball and keep it bouncing.
