TapUnlock is an NFC-enabled lockscreen with a focus on speed, simplicity and security. It is also free and ads-less!
Unlock your NFC-enabled device by 'tapping' an NFC ring, wristband, student ID card, NFC bus card or just a plain NFC tag (or a PIN if the NFC tag isn't nearby). It's a simple and convenient way of keeping your devices safe.
We are open source! You can check out the source code at https://github.com/adrianchifor/TapUnlock
To support development, you can donate with PayPal or Card using the following link http://goo.gl/TQRlTa. For Bitcoin donations, our address is: 1NZGAU1rEs1zBpwdjmnBjiyRsJHfycWhSF. Donations as 'In-app purchases' are also available through the 'Donate' section inside the app. The donations help us implement new features and deliver updates at a faster rate. Any amount would be most appreciated. Thank you!
It is recommended you set the Android screen lock to 'None' and disable any other custom lockscreens before enabling the NFC lockscreen. It is also recommended to not have more than 1 launchers installed (the app seems to raise issues otherwise).
This application is still in beta. If you discover any unexpected bugs/crashes or you have any functionality tips, please let us know at moonpidev at gmail.com
---FAQ---
What is NFC?
NFC (Near Field Communication) is a short-range wireless communication technology that enables the exchange of data between devices over a very short distance. NFC provides a much higher level of security and faster data exchange than Bluetooth, which makes it perfect for security related applications like locking/unlocking doors or devices and for digital wallets like Google Wallet.

Does the app write anything to my tags?
The app doesn't write or read any content from your NFC tags so you can safely store information on them; the app just uses the unique ID of each tag to know when to unlock your device, depending on what tags you added in the app.
---
Why do I get "Tag is not supported" when I try to add a new tag?
Our app supports all NFC tag technologies that the Android NFC library does (which is mostly all of them). If you have a Samsung device, try to avoid buying tags that have the work 'MiFare' in them since Samsung changed the NFC controller to a Broadcom controller in most of their NFC-enabled devices.
---
What are the benefits over a normal PIN/Pattern login?
This method of authentication gets rid of the possibility of someone 'shoulder surfing' and getting hold of your PIN or pattern. It is also very convenient and quick - same as a fingerprint unlock, the difference being that you can always change your NFC tags.
---
What happens if I lose or forget my tag(s)?
Before you enable your NFC lockscreen in the app, you will be asked to register a PIN. If you lose or forget your tag(s) you can simply unlock your device using the PIN you provided. You can then change, remove or add new tags.
