TOXBASE® is the clinical toxicology database of the UK National Poisons Information Service, providing advice on the features and management of poisoning. For an annual in-app subscription of £6.99 users will gain access to monographs designed to be used by healthcare professionals involved in the management of poisoned patients.

Users will initially download a free sample app. Users who go on to subscribe by in-app purchase will, depending upon their status, gain access to more than 1000 TOXBASE® entries or the full TOXBASE® database (UK NHS/PHE users must enter their professional e-mail address and professional registration details during the registration process to gain full access).

Key application features:

Clinical staff are rapidly presented with key clinical information, including advice on potentially hazardous doses and appropriate management:

* regular updates to ensure users always have the latest guidance

* UK Teratology Information Service advice on the toxicity of drugs and chemicals in pregnancy

* nursing guides to assist nursing staff caring for patients

* users can receive alerts specific to their geographical location

* users can use built-in forms to provide feedback to NPIS on serious cases

* no internet connection is required to search the database, although internet connection may be required to access all information on some entries

How the app works:

Users will initially download a free sample app, then complete a short registration form.

Depending on their status, users will obtain:

* UK NHS / PHE users who register using their NHS e-mail address – access to the mobile version of the full TOXBASE® database on payment of an annual subscription, currently £6.99. UK NHS / PHE users must enter their professional e-mail address and professional registration details during the registration process to gain full access.

In order to continue a subscription re-validation is required annually. Users are automatically sent a reminder.

* Non NHS/PHE and non-UK users who register using a non-NHS e-mail address – will have access to a selection of more than 1000 of the most frequently used toxicology monographs, teratology monographs and nursing guides on TOXBASE® on payment of an annual subscription, currently £6.99.

In order to continue a subscription re-validation is required annually. Users are automatically sent a reminder.
