Are you a muslim that travels a lot to non-muslim countries? Or are you a muslim living in a non-muslim country where aid for muslim rituals are scarce? Or are you simply a muslim that actively moves where you may end up in a location with little facility? This apps is a great tool to accurately assist you with current day prayer times and qiblah direction using bright daylight shadow.
How to use this apps:
1. This app calculates solah time from a pair of latitude-longitude coordinate. The coordinate can be obtained either by
a. GPS location acquisition – by pressing the Acquire GPS button,
b. Manually key in the coordinate, or,
c. Loading from a previously saved coordinate (full version only, not available in free version).
2. As soon as a location is obtained, the whole day prayer times for that day would be displayed.
3. Check if the time zone displayed is correct. If it is wrong, go to Parameters tab and make the necessary correction by increasing or decreasing the time zone value, or by choosing either the calculated time zone or the system provided time zone. Then go back to Prayer Times tab to see the corrected prayer times.
4. Make a similar correction if the Daylight Saving mode is wrong.
5. Go to Shadow Compass tab to see the qiblah direction relative to 9am or 3pm shadow if you are in bright daylight. The shadow must be projected by an upright standing object. The full version will the give current shadow direction accurate to the minute. The free version will give the shadow direction at 3pm if you launch it before noon the same day; or, the shadow direction at 9am the next day if you launch it after noon. You need to find a way to keep the shadow direction, for example by snapshot.
6. Saving a current location coordinate: Full version only.
7. Loading a previously saved coordinate: Full version only
Advantages of shadow compass:
1. Highly accurate and stable. A magnetic compass can have error of up to ±15 degrees. This is especially true for compasses built-in in smartphones and tablets. It is also very sensitive to motion and hardly settled down to the same direction after disturbance with the exception of the compasses used by the military and ship navigation.
2. Immune to the surrounding interference. Magnetic compass is easily miss-directing if placed near a metal piece either magnetized or not.
Disadvantages of shadow compass:
1. Requires bright daylight. Obviously. A cloudy day won’t be a good day to use this type of direction finding tool. Plan your travel to getting qiblah direction from this apps when it is bright daylight. Qiblah measurement is done only once for a particular place.
2. Not usable when the sun is too close to absolute upright (zenith) because there is no usable shadow to refer to. Depending on season, places between the Tropic of Capricorn and the Tropic of Cancer will experience this around noon for around a week twice or once in a year. You will see a message in Shadow Compass tab telling that the sun is too upright. Wait for at least an hour or so to get the shadow direction again. Or, you can perform the shadow compass reading in the morning at least an hour before noon.
Good luck, and thank you for using this apps.
Note: You need at least Android 4.2 to run this application.
Update Version 1.5:

(2) Button controlled GPS request.
(3) Ability to manually modify latitude and longitude.
(4) Ability to utilize internal system timezone.

Good luck, and thank you for using this apps.
