The Saranac River Trail follows the river through the City of Plattsburgh weaving its way across the campus of SUNY Plattsburgh, along Pine Street, and across the Saranac Street bridge (closed to motorized vehicles but open to bikes and walkers). Phase II, currently under construction, will add a new bridge across the river to Durkee Street and City Hall Place ending at the MacDonough Monument opposite City Hall. Spurs will connect from the Saranac Street Bridge to Stafford Middle School and eventually to Peace Point Park where the river empties into Lake Champlain. Along the trail and nearby streets, you’ll find major points of interest - some are from Plattsburgh’s historic past, and others are part of its dynamic present and future. What are they? How do you get to nearby places that are just off the trail and throughout the City of Plattsburgh? Perhaps most important for our visitors, how do you get back to the Northway and where do you park (for free!)? Saranac River Trail app answers these questions for you.
