Application for universal access to lectures and presentations by visualisation of synchronous transcript of spoken language (speech-to-text reporting) in your hand and visualisation of presentation screen in your hand with possibility of closed captioning.

The application has two main features to grant accessibility of conferences, lectures and presentations. Even though the main target group are hearing and visually impaired users, the application can in the same time provide helpful features for all audience.

Visualisation of synchronous transcription of spoken language (speech-to-text reporting)

The visualisation of the text transcript makes possible to follow on a handheld device the transcript which speech-to-text reporter makes with his laptop in real time. The transcript is continuously updated because the users’ devices are permanently connected to the reporter’s laptop via a wireless network. This makes following of the text on the displays more comfortable to reading it directly from the display of reporter’s laptop. The system allows more than one handheld device connected, so more users can follow the transcript.

Visualisation of presentation screen in your hand with possibility of closed captioning Polygraf application visualizes the broadcasted presentation screen provided by presenter’s computer on a handheld device. It allows visually impaired users and others to view presentations closer, so that small projecting screens and bad light conditions don’t impact legibility of presented materials. Using handheld devices users can follow the presentations, apply color inverting and magnify the output for better reading.

In addition to this, the view can be extended with closed captioning based on the transcription service provided by a speech-to-text reporter.

In the column Available services of this Polygraf main screen, there’s a list of available resources divided in Transcript documents (transcripts being made by reporters in the proximity) and Presentation mirrorings broadcasted by the presenters’ computers. The item selected by tapping will be displayed and continuously updated.

The settings of Polygraf application allow to set how text is displayed on the handheld display any time according to user’s preferences, no matter if the text is a transcript, closed caption or documentation of Polygraf application.

The settings menu is opened by tapping the icon placed in the bottom left corner of the screen and choose:

- font family

- font style

- font size

- spacing

- text and background colors.

Also the visualization of presentation screen can be personalized, and user has those options:

- color inverting,

- image refreshing time,

- enabling closed caption.

The application is available in English and Czech language. More localizations are planned.
