Open Mode Integrated Transportation System (OMITS) uses emerging information and communication technologies, such as wireless communications, Internet services, global positioning systems (GPS), geographic information systems (GIS), and large scale database systems, to improve ridership of vehicles and optimize operation of transportation system. This app runs GPS in the background to collect the drive and the rider's location. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. The user can choose to turn off GPS anytime.
