PT MNC Kapital Indonesia Tbk (“The Company”), which was established on July 15, 1999 with the name of PT Bhakti Capital Indonesia, is a subsidiary of PT MNC Investama Tbk (previously PT Bhakti Investama Tbk) that manages the strategic investments in the financial service sector.
The Company which was initially focused on investment banking and brokerage businesses, now has grown its businesses, offering a wide range of financial products and services to include securities, asset management, multifinance, life insurance and general insurance.
The Company went public in a successful initial public offering in 2001, which raised Rp62.5 billion. The Company’s stocks were traded on both the Jakarta Stock Exchange and the Surabaya Stock Exchange, which later merged to become the Indonesia Stock Exchange.
The Company underwent a corporate restructure in 2003, which led to the establishment of three subsidiaries: PT Bhakti Asset Management, PT Bhakti Finance and PT Bhakti Securities. The rebranding of the MNC Group in late 2010 resulted in a change of name of these subsidiaries to PT MNC Asset Management, PT MNC Finance and PT MNC Securities, respectively. Each of the subsidiaries focuses on specific business segment: PT MNC Asset Management in Investment Manager services, PT MNC Finance in consumer financing and PT MNC Securities in securities trading and other capital market activities.
On November 5, 2010, the Company started its insurance business through its successful acquisition of a 99.9% stake in PT UOB Life-Sun Assurance, which offers life insurance products. The name of the acquired company was then changed to PT MNC Life Assurance. A year after, on December 20, 2011, the Company acquired another insurance company, namely PT Jamindo General Insurance (“Jamindo”), which offers general insurance. Jamindo was subsequently changed to PT MNC Asuransi Indonesia.
