The Birthday app has a live tile with a configurable count down to the next birthday.
This means that you can have a Birthdays tile on your start screen that flips and tells you whose birthday is next, how many days you have to buy a present, the actual date of the birthday and how old they will be.
The trial version allows 2 birthdays to be setup. The full version allows hundreds.
