DOFCompute is a standalone depth-of-field calculator that provides somewhat more power than the standard DOF calculator, in a compact and interactive format.DOFCompute will not only compute depth-of-field, it will also solve for subject distance, fStop, or focal length from the depth of field as an input value. Hence you can “request” a DOF of 3″ and look at the lens and distance characteristics that you need to achieve this.Subject distances and depths of field can be entered in Metric or English systems, and conversions are available immediately, at the press of a button. For example, numbers like 3in, 3ft, 3mi, 3mm, 3cm, 3m, or even 3′, 3″, etc. Default values (distances without a measurement) are treated as millimeters.The calculator is also available as part of the PhotoCompute iPhone app, but is sold separately at reduced price for those who want only the DOF calculator.
