Alan's world math counting app by Kiddom helps children learn to count from 0-10, compare numbers and quantities, sequences of numbers, identifying different counting puzzles. NOTE FOR TEACHERS: You can login and setup individual profiles, to get email reports for each child's progressAlan the Owl takes children on a fantastic learning adventure, to rescue his friends from the evil wrath of Dondo, by helping him learn about numbers and solving mathematical puzzles. TOPICS COVERED Number Sense - Counting; Compare numbers; Order numbers Match numbers to quantities Compare quantities – compare the number of items in different groups Count in a geometric pattern: line, rectangle, circle etc. Add numbers to 10 Order numbers - Place numbers in the correct order Learn counting through puzzle solving Associate quantities with numerals/numbers Count to find which number is larger and which one is smaller Features: 1. Story-based - An animated video sets up a fun storyline to follow 2. Interactive – Touch based sounds; touch to interact with onscreen characters 3. Tutorials - Each game comes with a video tutorial explaining how to play 4. Voiceovers - Alan voices all questions and hints to help children understand 5. Rewards – Medals are given at the end of each level, based on performance 6. Personalized Learning - Each level adjusts difficulty level according to child’s ability. Games and Levels Each level has 3 different difficulty levels and the children progress through from 1-3 based on their performance and progress. 1. Counting Children are asked to count the number of objects they can see and to select the right answer from choices on the right. 2. What does not belong In this activity, children have to count the number of objects different groups and compare the quantities in each of them to determine which group has a different quantity of objects. 3. Count each object Only Once In this activity, children are taught how to count in geometric patterns. The idea is to have children count in a certain pattern without repeating the count and entering the answer from options on the right. 4. Compare numerals and quantities: The goal of this game is to have the kids associate quantities with actual numerals by dragging the right numerals and placing them on top of the right quantities. 5. Match numeral to objects to unlock the code This is the hardest activity of the app; in this level children have to unlock the rescue code of the jail cell by solving a puzzle. Each number is denoted by a character, and children have to make the right matches to figure out the code. 6. 1's, 10's, 100's: Children are provided with three different block formations: 1, 10 and 100. Alan will ask to make a specific total using the blocks. Kids will learn how to compose and decompose numbers from 1-1000. 7. Count till you drop: Children tap on objects in holes, which contains specific number. The numbers will all be read aloud so they can understand how each number follows the one before it. 8. Adding blocks: 3 different number formations to be made using blocks of 1,5,10,20,50 and 100. Children will learn how to count and add from 1-1000 by building the total through visual stacks of blocks. All games are based on the Common Core standards and are designed to teach core mathematical components important for developing analytical skills required of ages 4 to 6. These include: This app will help your child in learning the following Common Core State Standards domains: Counting and Cardinality (K.CC.A.1, K.CC.A.2, K.CC.B.4, K.CC.B.5, K.CC.C.6, K.CC.C.7), Operations and Algebraic Thinking (K.OA, 1.OA.1/2/5), K.OA.A.1, K.OA.A.2, K.OA.A.3, K.OA.A.4, K.OA.A.5)
