Adobe’s Photoshop program allows you to manipulate and customize images. You can customize image backgrounds and change the background of the entire workspace. These instructions will work to change the background color using Photoshop CS5 using either the workspace method or an image. Locations of the tools and efficacy may vary depending upon the version of the program.

Many times you have an image with a colored background, like the one above and you want to take out the background to use the image's subject in a composition. With gimp there are many ways to achieve this, one of which is using a plug-in specifically designed for this:
