When you turn this off, all your calculations happen from left to right, in exactly that order. This is helpful when you are adding in multiple checks, receipts, etc. so that you get the right calculation ( PEMDAS: 5 + (3 + 2) * 2 = 15, Linear: 5 + (3 + 2) * 2 = 20 ).
