The Ballston Business Improvement District mobile app experience will deliver a life-size Alex Ovechkin (Washington Capitals), Chris Pontius (DC United), and John Wall (Washington Wizards) to your phone at Taste of Arlington. Attendees at the Taste of Arlington will view a “digital statue” through a Ballston branded mobile application, produced via Augmented Reality (AR) marker similar to a QR code. Ballston and these sports celebrities will be featured publically through the sharing of images captured and disseminated via social media platforms.

Attendees of Taste of Arlington will download a custom developed mobile application to their tablets or smart phones. Once the application is launched users will be prompted to target a “QR code” with their cameras. Once that marker is targeted, the application will display a 15-second video of a local sports celebrity or well-known person that is built into the application. This video will reveal itself over the AR marker so it appears participants are posing with the desired celebrity.
