Are You OK is a simple check-in alarm system that checks if a friend or relative is OK daily or throughout the day. If they don't press an "I'm OK" button within 20 minutes of seeing or hearing the alarm, it sends you a text message (SMS) asking you to call or check in, just to make sure all is well.

Many people trip or fall in their home and are unable to get to help. Sometimes costly "panic button" systems require them to call for help and are sometimes left out of reach, this system sends for help automatically if they are unable to themselves.

This app aims to help with independent living whilst keeping worry at bay, letting family and friends know that "I am OK".

How it works

Install the app on nearly any Android phone (see website). Once set up, you can simply leave the phone plugged in on a shelf, on the side or somewhere it will be seen or heard. During the day, after the number of hours you've configured, it'll sound off an alarm and flash up 2 buttons, "I'm OK" (green) and "I need help" (red). If you don't press one of these within 20 minutes, it sends a pre-configured text message to chosen friends or family asking them to simply check in.
