Ibne Umar RadiyAllahu `anhu narrates that Rasulullah Sallallahu `alaihi wasallam said: "Islam has been built upon five pillars -- Bearing witness that 'None is worthy of worship but Allah and that Muhammad Sallallahu `alaihi wasallam is Messenger of Allah,' and to establish Salah and give Zakah, and perform Hajj, and Saum (fasting) of Ramadan." Abu Hurairah RadiyAllahu `anhu narrates that Rasulullah Sallallahu `alaihi wasallam used to say: "The five Salah; and the (prayer of) Jumu'ah (Friday) from the last Jumu,ah; and fasting (of Ramadan) from the last Ramadan; are atonements for (the sins) that had been committed between them, provided the sinner avoids the major sins".
